Writing Investor Emails That Get Replies

The structure of an investor cold email that gets opened, read, and answered.

Published: Jan 29, 2026

Cold investor emails work. The mistake is treating them like sales emails.

The structure

  1. Subject: specific, short, no marketing language.
  2. First line: why them — a real reason you’re writing to that person.
  3. Body: one sentence on what you’re building, one on traction, one on the ask.
  4. Close: a clear next step (15-min intro call, not "would love to connect").
